Run GPR is around the corner. Put it on your schedule. Open to ALL levels of ability (elite, avid, and walkers). This is the only half marathon that covers all the main trails of Griffith park. It takes you by iconic landmarks along the course including the Old Pony Ride, Merry Go Round, Travel Town, Zoo, Autry museum and finishes at Crystal Springs picnic area.

For the elites, it rewards the first male & female runner that reaches last peak! The 5K is flat, scenic and shaded. 


Enjoy sampling booths, food trucks and the REI experience.

Race Info

Course Description
Historic Half Marathon (13.1 Mile) Course

Run GPR half marathon consists of a fast flat start on a compact trail for the first 4 miles. Participants will then shift into miles 5 through 7 which covers the Pony Ride and Merry Go Round portion of the trails consisting of rolling hills with spectacular views of the foothills and nature all around. The final portion of the course passes by travel town, the zoo, and along the fastest portion of the course which is mostly flat compact trail.

The 5K course is all flat and fast covering the perimeter of the golf course.

Water Stations
Water will be available in all 6 water stations along the route. 5k Participants will have both water at the 1.5 halfway portion of the route.
Portable bathrooms will be located near the halfway point in the Travel Town Museum area.

First Aid Support
We will have a roving first aid team covering the main access points on the half marathon and 5K. First aid station is also available at the finish line area.

Starting Line Rules
Runners are encouraged to begin lining up for the half marathon no later than 7:20AM. The race will start on time at 7:30AM. The 5K race will begin promptly at 10:00AM.
Seed yourself according to your expected race pace. The faster runners should be positioned at the front of the start chute, while slower runners/walkers/strollers start on the back. The goal is to have the start flow nicely and all cooperate with the start being safe.

Finish Line
Run GPR Finish Line is located near the Pony Ride trail just south-east on Crystal Springs Road, behind the Ranger Station, where the main parking for all the participants is located.

Race Day Schedule
1/2 Marathon Start - 7:30AM
Please line up at the starting line no later than 7:15AM

5K Start Time - 10:00 AM
Please line up at the starting line no later than 9:45AM

Runner Participation & Awards|Half Marathon ONLY
The half marathon is open to all levels of ability - yes, that's right! Take your time and enjoy the trek of this historic route.

Elite athletes have to be approved by the event director, Jose Zavala. Prize money sponsored by Aztlan Athletics.
Award money will be mailed to all confirmed athletes once completed W-9 forms are provided.

Event Day Parking
Plenty of parking will be located off of Crystal Springs Road. Over 350 parking slots.
There will be parking behind the ranger station, across the ranger station near the merry-go-round area, and additional parking just north of the Pony Ride area.

Follow RunGPR parking signage at both entrances from Crystal Springs Road.
Allow plenty of time for picking up your packets at registration. Races will start on time.

NOTE: Run GPR Elite Open & Masters awards are sponsored by Aztlan Athletics, LLC. All Aztlan Athletics elite awards money participants must be cleared by the event director, Jose Luis Zavala, at LEAST 4 weeks prior to the event. 

Once approved runners must complete ALL of the following:

1. Contact the event director, Jose L Zavala, at Jose@AztlanAthletics.org to register no later than 4 weeks prior to the event day (By January 4, 2024). 
2. Once approved, each Elite runner must share on their social media platforms two times ONE WEEK APART that they are registered to participate at RunGPR and provide the following “#RunAztlanAthletics, join me on March 3rd, I’m going for the course record”. Like and share the post via your Instagram and/or Facebook.
3. Provide a completed w-9 form. Note: award money will not be issued unless the completed & signed w-9 is provided on or before event day.
4. Stay for the awards ceremony
5. Be available for a brief interview.

Registration will close 15 minutes prior to the start of each race. 

Half Marathon Start | 7:30 A.M. 

The Half Marathon cut-off time will be 4 hours. We will continue to wait near the finish line area for you. However, they directional signs and cones will start getting removed at 11:30 A.M

5K Start   | 10:00 A.M. 
If you arrive late, you may participate in the run/walk but will not receive official results.
